Rexroth Frequency Converter Fe: On-Demand Control at the Press of a Button
Uncontrolled pump and fan drives consume an unnecessarily large amount of energy, pushing operating costs past the pain threshold. With the new Frequency Converter Fe series from Rexroth it is now an easy matter to convert a system to on-demand control. The advantages are a far better energy balance-sheet and prolonged actuator life. Speedy integration in all automation environments is made possible by automatic motor identification and commissioning based on just a few parameter entries.
With a power range from 0.75 kW to 110 kW, the four compact versions of the Frequency Converter Fe cover all basic functions. Automatic motor parameter identification and an integrated user panel help to cut commissioning time. For standard industrial motors of the same rated power the default parameters provide real Plug & Play functionality. For standard industrial motors of lower rated power and for special-purpose motors it suffices to configure just three basic parameters and three motor parameters for initial start-up. The auto-tuning function sees to all other motor settings.
Demand-controlled energy consumption is one of several solutions available to Rexroth customers for leveraging greater energy efficiency in the operation of their machines throughout the product life-cycle. The freely definable V/f characteristic curve of the Fe series, which can be adapted according to the load, reduces the energy consumption of the converters and extends their working life. PWM frequency is infinitely variable in an interval from 1 kHz to a maximum 15 kHz depending on the rated power of the frequency converter. This wide spectrum enables particularly fine tuning to the drive tasks in question plus simultaneous noise optimization. Numerous digital and analog interfaces provide greater flexibility for integrating in automation structures. With all sizes featuring on-board PLC functionality, several Frequency Converter Fe units can work together in a network and perform distributed synchronization of simple tasks without a bus system. Rexroth provides a Modbus interface as standard for connection to the machine control system. An external Profibus interface is also available from the manufacturer as an option.
